As one of the final pieces of business at the IAFF 54th Convention, delegates voted on the site for the 56th Convention in 2022. Delegates overwhelming voted in favor of Ottawa, ON Local 162’s bid to host the 2022 Convention.
Local 162 President Peter Kennedy began his presentation with a video greeting from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau encouraging delegates to support Ottawa as the convention site.
“An IAFF convention has not been held in either country’s capital city since 1918,” said Local 162 President Peter Kennedy. “Our members would be honored to host all of you in our great city.”
When General President Harold Schaitberger called for the vote, delegates voted unanimously in favor of Local 162.
